Redcrest to Garberville, CA

Sunday October 10, 2004

8:00am  We woke up under some bridge around seven. We're walking back to Redcrest. We've had a good morning so far. We waked and baked under the bridge and now we're walking to Redcrest. We're going to buy some cigarettes.

                   Redcrest. Population 112. Elevation 350.

8:13am  Soledad at the Eternal Tree House Cafe is hooking us up with some breakfast. We appreciate it, Soledad.

8:18am  Me and Crow scored some biscuits and gravy at the Eternal Tree House Cafe. Never fails. Every time I come here I get hooked up. At first I thought it might be risky, because I had another person with me.

9:33am  We walked up to the sign that says, "Weott 6 miles, Ukiah 118, San Francisco 227." We're going to stick our thumbs out.

10:35am  We didn't wait long at all. We were just sitting there. Crow was making this little rock sculpture. I was just packing up all my stuff and I hear Crow, "Hey, are you ready?" A car had pulled over! Tim's giving us a ride to Miranda, almost to Garberville. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

10:52am  Tim dropped us off at Miranda. He gave us some traveling-food. Some apples and stuff.

11:54am  I don't know if I've made an entry or a status-check, but me and Crow we came to some bridge. Close to the sign that points to Miranda. I don't know what we're going to do from here. We're just chilling out resting. We need to get on the road again. Garberville at least.

12:34pm  Crow and I are walking 101 South. We're only ten miles from Garberville. 101 to Ukiah and 207 to San Francisco.

I don't know where this picture is.

1:15pm  Me and Crow sat down to rest at the first place where cars could pull off for us and give us a ride.

                   Mile marker R21.24

     2:16pm  R20.63

     2:18pm  R20.55

Crow asked me, "What are you doing that for?" I told him, "Just so people know I am really walking."

2:32pm  All of a sudden this cop pulls over and tells us we can't be hitchhiking on the highway. He's hooking us up with a courtesy ride to Garberville.

2:44pm  We're in Garberville. Got a courtesy ride from a cop. Cool, cool. I didn't get her name.

3:04pm  We got dropped off at the Shell Station. The Food Mart in Garberville. This kid comes up to me and goes, "Hey, weren't you at the Circle A Ranch?" Another kid who recognized me from Boulder. He saw me that night I was on stage. He asked me, "What have you been up to?" I told him, "Same 'ol thing. Saving the world."

3:09pm  Welcome to Garberville Victor and Crow. Getting smoked out already. Willie, who I saw in Boulder and his friend are smoking us out. We appreciate it, guys. Everybody gets credit.

3:32pm  Me and Crow were walking and T asked us, "Here, you want to hit this?" Some good-ass weed too. We appreciate it, brother.

Heather just hooked me up with some yummy coffee. I appreciate it, Heather. Everybody gets credit.

3:59pm  We came to the Subway at the 76 station. Crow bought a big twelve inch sub and he hooked me up with half. We're going to walk to some park now.

It's so cool that all these people recognized me already. Oh yeah, I hate Scotia. Everybody there is all owned by the lumber company. Every time I go there I have some bullshit happen.

6:52pm  I have come to a realization in my mission. We're already in Garberville, California. Crow and I walked down to the park. There was absolutely nobody there. He collected some rocks and made a Rock Cairn. We're walking all the way back into town. I think I'm going to stop, if not cut down drastically, working the mission offline. Like telling my story and collecting email addresses. I have around six thousand email addresses right now. Which is more than enough to do this job with. I need to start trying to be myself again. Maybe I should just tell people I have quit my mission and just surprise them. Maybe just to get the feds off my back.

Plus, I should keep things on a lower key. Turn it down a bit. Now that I have so much power. Well, the potential for power.

I'm going to try and turn off the peace machine for now.

I'll even cut back on my logging. Only if something really cool happens. I'll stop with the minor details and shit. I'm on vacation from my logging now.

Hmm, that's all easier said than done. Let's see if I am actually able to do it. Because I still hate being bored.

10:00pm  I never told you what happened. Oh yeah, me and Crow broke up, I guess you can say. He just took off. He told me some weird shit. I don't remember. I wasn't sure where I was going to crash tonight. I was just randomly walking and I saw some trees on one side of this street. I walked over there and I ended up at some big wall next to the street. It was a Garberville smoking spot. There were all these kids there and I told them my story. They brought me to their camp and I have a place to crash! Perfect. The universe provides.

Next day..
