Eureka to Arcata, CA

Friday October 8, 2004

9:10am  I am leaving Kati's house. I gave her my farewell. I have to go. I'm a bit bummed out, but I guess it's for the better. I just wanted to love her.

9:48am  I walked all the way over to the hitchhiking spot over by The Raven House. I want to go back to Arcata. I was going to go to the Michoacana Mexican restaurant, I scored there last time, but they're closed. I have like seven dollars on me. I'm going to get a camera.

Oh kick ass. I was just standing there and some girl honked. She pulled to the side a little past the light.

9:50am  Spell that one more time. Tomiko she's hooking me up with a ride back to Arcata. I appreciate it, Tomiko.

11:00am  What was your name again? Vagrant wants to give me some contact info. PO Box 435, Alba, Missouri. I don't remember the zip code. You can look it up. The phone number is 417-436-2435. Alright.

11:55am  I just ate lunch at The Endeavor and I walked to the plaza. Hopefully there's a pretty girl I can tell my story to in the plaza.

12:08pm  (in front of them) I just had me a conversation with two of the most ignorant girls I have ever come across of. They ended up talking shit about me in the end and making fun of me. They're going to be talking about me for a long time. They're going to tell all their friends! Just like I want them to! I have impregnated them! I told them, "I'm a walking, talking self-fulfilling prophecy!"

12:28pm  Ha, another interesting conversation. These hippies walked by. I mean these hippiecrites. I asked them if I could tell them a story and one went, "No, let me tell you a story.  Oh, you got a better story?" I told him, "I sure do." They wouldn't listen to me at all. Thanks for proving me right.

I'm going to walk to the school and type my shit up.

1:48pm  I ran into this gay friend of mine, Aunders. He was all, "Oh, you're still here?" I showed him that universal socket tool I have and the picture of the dog's head. I told him I was leaving. That I had got a bad sign.

Oh yeah, let me tell you about the bad sign I got. Today when I went to check my altbox.org email, which I've been logging my stuff to lately. I've got maybe like five days or more. Dude, it's been deleted. It won't let me log into it.

Well, there's no more Kati-Pie. I got this bad sign logging my stuff. There is nothing else in Humboldt for me now. I'm going to leave. I'm not sure where I'm going to go. I'm thinking back to San Antonio. I'm kind of paranoid now though because I don't want to be exposed that much more. I'll go to Brian's and see if I can work for him one last time. That's what I'll do.

2:06pm  Tim hooked me up with some change for bus fare. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

Please Love, let me get bus fare today and then I'll leave. These kids passed by and gave me eighty cents. I didn't log the occurrence because I'm all paranoid. I didn't get their names, but they know who they are.

4:08pm  George hooked me up with some change for bus fare. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

5:57pm  Oh yeah, I never told you. That George guy took me over to Humboldt Brewery. He bought me a bigass burger and stuff. He was all telling me about God and stuff. He even bought me a pack of cigarettes afterwards.

I got some traveling-cigarettes. It's raining. It sucks. That's my sign to leave. Rain.

6:24pm  I forgot to mention. I walked over to Brian's. I'm going to see if I can crash at his place because it's raining. I'll leave tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be raining tomorrow.

6:25pm  He opened the door and said, "Are you looking for a place out of the rain?" I told him yeah and he said, "I can't help you. I just dropped some Ecstasy." I told him, "Fine, forget it. I'll find somewhere else. Thanks anyway." Back to the bus stop.

6:50pm  Oh yeah, I ran into Crow at the bus stop. I figured I since I can't crash at Brian's that I was just going to take off to Scotia. I'll catch the bus to Scotia. Oh yeah, and I asked Crow, "Do you want to go to Scotia with me?" Crow's traveling with me again. Cool, cool.

7:52pm  I didn't mention but Crow went to Trinidad. He had been looking for a Western Union place. He had some money wired to him. He bought a thirty sack of weed. Since it's raining tonight he wanted to get a motel room. He asked me if I knew where one was. I told him, "The only one I know about is the Fairwinds, over by the school." We walked over to it and they want like seventy five dollars for two people. Scratch that. Crow told me that he knew about some place in the Redwoods. Like some hollowed out log or something. He said it stayed dry in the rain. At first I didn't believe him. I asked him, "You mean to tell me that in the Redwood Forest there is a place where two people can stay completely dry and it's not man-made?" He told me yeah. We're going to check it out. Just in case.

If not we have to walk all the way to Giuntoli Road which is all the way up in North Town. The Motel 6.

8:40pm  Me and Crow walked into the woods to check out this place. And there is indeed a place where two people can crash dry. There's an old tree trunk leaning sideways. But we're not going to crash here. Crow's afraid of the spiders. We're walking back. I don't know where.

12:00am  We just had a rude awakening. The cops busted us at the squat. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. Me and Crow ended up walking by the old Arcata movie theater. I saw that there were a lot of street kids crashed out here. We had even gone to see that place in the woods. Anyway, we just got a rude awakening. The cops busted us and told everybody to leave. Oh yeah, and one cop ran my ID. When he came back with it he asks me, "Hey, are you the one writing the book? I didn't know you were back." I smiled real big and told him, "Yeah, they haven't taken me out yet." The cop told me, "Ah-nah, you seem cool."

                     My presence is known.

12:52am  The guy at 4th Street Market gave me some water. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

Next day..
