San Antonio, TX

Sunday April 11, 2004

5:37am  I woke up about I don't know, fifteen minutes ago. Man, the forecast sucks. Flashflood all day. It's Easter Sunday, man.

7:30am  It looks like Easter Sunday got rained out. I'm just going to stay home all day. I'm reading my Third Wave book, which has become my shitter book in the morning. I stumbled onto page 75, The Reassurance Ritual. If I haven't type that section up, I gotta check to see though, but if I haven't I have to bad. I need everybody to read that section. It's badass. Everybody keep in mind that this book was published in 1980.

10:17am  Let's see, what's happened? It's Easter Sunday. I can't stay in the house all day on the computer. I've got a world to save. I did my little brother a favor and ironed his shirt for him while he's taking a shower. My mom had left earlier to Marie Callanders. She's meeting all her friends there for lunch. I figured I'd just get a ride from my brother to Marie Callanders and catch the bus from there. Say hi to my mom. Hehe, I'm going to make an appearance in front of all my mom's friends. All these Babylonians here at Marie Callanders. Hey, it's Easter Sunday.

11:15am  I went to Marie Callanders and my mom bought me brunch. All you can eat buffet. I'm stuffed. I had some good salmon. Then they were going to church, so she couldn't give me a ride to the hospital. I walked to the Chevron gas station on the corner of I10 and Callaghan, went in the bathroom and took a shit. I forgot I didn't put my thermal bottoms on. That's why I brought them. Somebody knocked on the door. I told them, "Hold on." When I finished taking a shit I forgot about my thermal bottoms, so I looked outside and didn't see anybody waiting. I went back in and put my thermals on. Somebody came and knocked on the door again. The people had already left. Ahh, nothing like a good pair of thermals on a cold day. I feel great.

11:41am  I walked all the way from Marie Callanders on Callaghan and 410 almost to University Hospital. I walked Callaghan to Babcock and took a left on Babcock. I'm in front of 2020 Babcock. I took a picture of it. It's raining right now. It's the building with the big rainbow in front of it. My future headquarters.

11:53am  I finished smoking in front of my headquarters. Oh, it says there is a space available. I could rent here.

12:02pm  I got a really good picture of University Hospital Transfer Center. All the buses and stuff.

12:08pm  I am at the hospital trying to decide what bus I want to get on. I'm thinking maybe I'll take the 91 over to West. Maybe I'll take the 534 to the Ingram Park and Ride and hang out there. Maybe someone I know will show up. Hopefully a pretty girl. Then I thought maybe I'll jump on the 92 and go downtown. Something magical is going to happen downtown.

I got on the 92 and the guy had ten minutes left. I changed my mind and I got on the 520. He's only got a minute left so we're going to take off. Let's see where I end up today. It's Easter Sunday.

1:26pm  The 520 dropped me off the Deco District HEB on Fredericksburg.

                   Mary Louise and Fredericksburg.

The day's brightening. I think the sun's coming out.

1:45pm  I just got off at the library. I'm going to go check my email to see if Jordan wrote me.

1:24pm  I walked to Travis Park. There's this guy thumping his bible all hard. All these people were listening to him. I walked right in front of him and said, "Talk is cheap," and just kept walking. Hahaha

1:30pm  Whoa, there's all these pigeons everywhere. They're going' nuts. Man, they're beautiful. I need to get a picture of them.

I took tons of pictures of the pigeons.

2:22pm  I just got out of the bathroom at the Nix. I had to take a shit bad. I barely had enough time to pull my pants down. Ahhh, it just came out. Whew, what a relief.

3:05pm  I've got a destination. UT Downtown. There's supposed to be a big crowd there. I'm going to go make an appearance.

3:16pm  I got to the UTSA Downtown Campus. I don't see a big group of people anywhere. I took a picture of downtown. It's beautiful.

3:32pm  I walked to the UTSA campus. There's not a big crowd here. I thought I was going to make an appearance. I walked through this plaza and I saw this guy and little girl sitting down. I thought, "Hey, maybe I walked to the campus to talk to them." I came and told them my story. William and Brittney. William is suggesting a movie. An HBO movie. What was it called? Citizen X. I'll download it. Excellent movie, he says. He said it wasn't non-fiction.

William: "It's a true story. Just the end of it gets my whole point. It happened like in 1955 or something. Somewhere around there. This guy went out and he actually got away with it for like twenty, twenty five years. Something like that. He was raping and molesting these little kids between the ages of fifteen to seventeen or eighteen. Back then, actually that's when they used the first psychologists over there. Well anyway, he eventually admitted it. They kept trying to bust him, but they couldn't get him. He was smart. The whole point of it, at the end you'll see he admitted it, you know, they recorded it. There was no fucking courts. They took him into a room which looked like a shower room or something. And that guard said, the soldier said, "Please turn around." He turned around and the guard put his pistol to the back of his head and blew his brains away. He had admitted to killing something like forty five children. I'm saying, what's with the courts? Fuck that. There's a limit. Rehabilitation only goes so far. Like I said, I'm an ex-felon. I've learned my lessons. I'm a good parent, a Christian, but there's a limit! I'm like, "Dude, you don't have the right to breathe the air. You're sucking up air that someone else could be using."

Victor: "Like I tell people. Let's say I get gang-raped in an alley. Dude, I wouldn't want the people responsible just taken care of. Have a roof over their heads and food in their stomachs. Is that what criminals deserve? A life free of responsibility? That's not justice at all.  Each gang member should shove a broomstick shoved up his ass and it should leave a lot of splinters, damnit. Let the punishment fit the crime.

4:16pm  I just had an awesome conversation with this dude William. He talked to me a lot. We took turns. He had stories, I had stories. I told him about how I gave out that lady's phone number on AOL.

4:27pm  I just took a picture of the County Justice Center.

4:32pm  Just took a picture of the San Fernando Cathedral. There's a big plaque that says, "The remains of the Alamo heroes are entombed in the chapel at the left hand side of the entrance to this cathedral." Visitors welcome. Another one that says, "To commemorate the 200th anniversary of laying the cornerstone of the San Fernando Cathedral, first place of worship for Texas. Built through the generosity and zeal of the Canary Islanders, founders of San Antonio. Dedicated May 11, 1938 by his Excellency most reverend Aurthur J. Drossaerts, archbishop of San Antonio. Erected by the San Antonio Council, #786 Knights of Columbus San Antonio 4th Degree Assembly Bejar Caravan #56 Order of the Alhambra.

4:53pm  I walked all the way to Nix to use the restroom. Man, I'm been shitting all day. I've got the runs. It was that salmon this morning.

4:59pm  Oh yeah, I saw the 91 pull up. I got on and saw Mr. Berumen driving, my friend. I told him I wanted to go to West Telemarketing, but I changed my mind. I wanted to go to the library. And, I haven't visited San Antone today. Then, I'll take off.

5:10pm  I'm down on The Riverwalk. Cool, these tourists are looking at me recording myself. Haha. I bet they're all, "Hey, what's that guy up to?"

I was walking and all of a sudden this girl tells me, "Hey, save the world with the Internet yet?" I told her, "Not yet. Every day is a new chapter."

5:23pm  I just took a picture of all these ducks. They're feeding them bread in the river.

5:30pm  I just walked by the place where they have the riverboats. I asked them, "Hey, can I get a nice Easter courtesy-ride?" They all told me, "It's $6.50."

5:37pm  The weirdest thing. I'm walking over here on the corner of Houston and Navarro. Something just fell out of the sky and hit the ground. It was like a big piece of bark. There's nothing up there but the sky. Maybe somebody chunked it at me from a tall building.  I picked it up and guess what it was. It was a big piece of shit! It just fell out of the sky right in front of me. I don't know where it came from. Probably the pigeons. I need to wash my hands.

Mr. Sandoval hooked me up with a ride to the hospital. I appreciate it, Mr. Sandoval. Everybody gets credit in my game.

6:47pm  David my pal the security guard at the hospital just asked me, "Hey, are you hungry? I got some peanut butter and Triscuits." I appreciate it, brother.

We were having a cool talk. It's all dead, nobody's here. It's just David and me. He's worked for VIA for five years. He was at Crossroads Park and Ride for two and this one for three.

7:10pm  Emil is hooking me up with a ride. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit in my game.

7:38pm  I just got off the 610 over on Guilbeau right after it turns from Bandera. I'm going to go see if the Taco Cabana is open. Maybe they'll hook me up with some food. It's Easter Sunday. They should. Then, I am going to walk home. I'm going to go to the Taco Cabana and take a shit. Wait, let me get some food first, then I'll take a shit.

It was all the food I ate at the Marie Callanders. That's what it was.

8:05pm  Tim, at the Citgo on Guilbeau and Bandera hooked me up with a cigarette. I appreciate it, brother.

He asked me if I needed another one. He gave me another one. Awesome. Thanks for proving me right.

8:22pm  I'm over here telling this guy my story. He's listening to me. He's very attentive.

8:50pm  I am still here telling my stories to this guy. In between customers. Some guy came in and bought some beer and he tells me, "I recognize you from somewhere." I told him, "You should, I am everywhere."

8:54pm  I've been telling Tim my story. He's been listening to me very attentively. He just bought me a pack of cigarettes. Awesome, dude. You see, I work on a reward-basis, hehe. Actually, I work for free. Sometimes I get a reward. Just all that Tim listened to is reward enough. Thanks, brother. Happy Easter.

Man, it's so great that guy listened to me all night. He didn't have anything better to do. I gave him every script I have almost.

9:25pm  I'm turning right on Wickersham. I'm going to walk it all the way to Old Tezel.

9:50pm  It's all dark. I sat down underneath this street light to smoke a cigarette and let everybody see me as they drive by.

10:07pm  I walked all the way to my mom's house.

Next day..
